This Easter was a fun one for us! The Easter Bunny left the kids 5 baby chicks in their baskets! The kids were thrilled and couldn't believe they got such a fun thing. These were some tough chickens, especially Mikeys. Mike took his chicky everywhere. They would get up in the morning and run outside to play with them. I couldn't believe how attached they got in such a short time. When the chicks were about a month old they were sitting out in the sun for about an hour and we realized the black one had heat stroke. We hurried and brought him in the shade but it was too late. Zorro had passed on :( Then that same night the neighbors dog broke into the box and killed another one. The kids were so devastated so we figured it was time to fix up the coop outside so they would be safe. The next day I told Grace to go check on the chicks and see how they did their first night in the coop and I could hear her screaming. I ran outside and the neighbors dog had dug under the coop and killed the other three. It was SO sad! I told the kids sometimes these things happen and I promised we would go get more after school. They were excited to pick out their own this time. Now we have 4 and the kids adore them also. They miss the first batch, but they are happy to have new ones too.
This is Graky (Grace and Mikey mixed)
Of course Mike named this one.
This is the new batch. They were hatched on the Sat before we got them. They are only 5 days old in this pic!
Indie is in the front, then Pork, then Annabelle, then Graky.
Pork. Because he's the "other white one"
Bringing home the new batch!
Right after Zorro died :(
Mike and I buried the other three while Grace was at school. She was having a hard time so we thought it would be best to take care of it while she was gone.
Realizing Zorro had died.
This is the first batch.
Blue, Buttercup, Tiny, Fatguy, and Zorro.

Grace took Tiny everywhere.
the babies.
Roxy is hilarious with the chickens. She gets stressed out when they start to wander so she tries so hard to keep them all together. I think she's glad we only have 4 now.

Those chickens are so cute! Glad you were able to find more. We've had dogs get into our chickens too, not fun!
Love! I am a chicken fan myself. My chickies aren't nearly as cool looking as yours. My dog also doesn't heard them, though she would probably eat them if given the chance...
